Answer #1

Answer

Data for normal distribution

Chi square statistics = 32.7 with p value= 0.249

KolmogorovSmirnov test statistics is 0.011 with p value > 0.15

p value for chi square as well as KolmogorovSmirnov test are greater than 0.05 significance level, so result is not significant.

Data for triangular distribution

Chi square statistics = 269 with p value < 0.005

KolmogorovSmirnov test statistics is 0.0811 with p value < 0.01

p value for chi square as well as KolmogorovSmirnov test are less than 0.05 significance level, so result is significant.

Therefore, triangular distribution provides better fit to the points based on the given data table

QUESTION 5 In a goodness-of-fit test to see if a set of 100 values were randomly drawn from a normal distribution, the quartiles and median (i.e., the 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 quantiles) for the normal distribution were used to determine intervals for sorting the data. What is the expected number of values that fall into each interval assuming the 100 numbers were drawn from the normal distribution? Given X, and x, distributions that are normal or approximately normal with unknown o, and on, the value of t corresponding to X, - X, has a distribution that is approximated by a Student's t distribution. We use the convention that the degrees of freedom is approximately the smaller of n - 1 and n, - 1. However, a more accurate estimate for the appropriate degrees of freedom is given by Satterthwaite's formula: 2 2 xn2 522 +$22) d.f. z...

    2. Goodness-of-fit tests Normal population Aa Aa Manufacturing processes, such as coin minting, are subject to small variations due to variations in materials, temperature, and humidity. The variations in materials, temperature, and humidity from their norms are just as likely to be positive as negative but are more likely to be small than large. Consider the 1 coin issued by Belgium. Realizing that there are small variations in the minting process and random error in the weighing process, it might...

(1 point) The following Exercise is based on summary statistics rather than raw data. This information is typically all that is presented in published reports. You can calculate inference procedures by hand from the summaries. Use the conservative Option 2 (degrees of freedom the smaller of ni1 and n2 - 1 for two-sample t confidence intervals and P-values. You must trust that the authors understood the conditions for inference and verified that they apply. This isn't always true.) Equip male...
