A 2-m high compacted fill with a unit weight of 20 kN/m3 is placed at the ground level. Ignore settlement of the sand layer.

Time required for combined settlement of 200 mm.

From the table above it is clear that OC layer undergoes complete 110 mm settlement by five months.

Another required 90 mm settlement for NC layer takes 7 months to occur.

Hence total time required for 200 mm combined settlement is 7 months.
