(i) Embedded operating systems run a Real Time Operating system which provides real time response and scheduling. So, it is more scalable. (i) Desktop operating systems are less scalable due to the lack of real time capability.
(ii) Supports a wide range of architectures. (ii) Supports a wide range of applications.
(iii) Less number of features available. (iii) More features available.
(iv) Embedded operating system can be defined as a library which is statistically connected with the application code. (iv) Desktop operating system can load and execute application code from a specific file system dynamically.
(v) Fewer number of protection mechanisms are available. (v) More number of protection mechanisms are available.
