13-Information of the death and survivor of a population with respect to age is represented in the form of table is known as life table .The term population growth refers to change in the number of individual in a population with time .Change in population is determined by four factors- birth, death , emigration and immigration.Growth curve are mainly 2 type -

(1)Exponential Growth- A population shows exponential growth if there is no limitation on growth. All members have abundant resource availability and the population displays its intrinsic rate of increase .The exponential form of growth may be represented by the simple model based on exponential equation:-

dN/dt=rN

Where N is the population size and r is the intrinsic rate of natural increase. It is defined as the rate of increase per individual under the specified physical condition , in an unlimited environment .It is also described as the maximum potential of reproduction in an individual in a particular set of condition. When food and space in a habitat are unlimited , all members of a species have the ability to grow exponentially.

(2) Logistic Growth- The growth of a population eventually slow as the population reaches the carrying capacity of the environment. This result in an S-shaped curve of population growth known as Verhulst-Pearl logistic growth.

If the rate of mortality is constant at all age group, so that an individual chance of living another year is just as a good at one age as another .This curve is found in birds and human being exposed of poor nutrition and hygiene.
