Private Cloud

Also known as Internal/Enterprise Cloud, this type of cloud computing technology, all the network infrastructure, and data resides inside the company premises and are protected behind the network firewall. These are more suitable for those organizations where the large data centers are already present. The limitation of private cloud is that the management, maintenance, and security of data centers is the sole responsibility of the firm. Also, with the course of time maintenance of the infrastructure of the private cloud becomes more and more expensive. The benefits of it are enhanced data security and the resources and access to those resources are in control of the organization management.

Public Cloud

In the public cloud, the organization does not have any responsibility for the maintenance or management of network resources. The data centers are provided by 3rd party providers and those are the ones who are responsible for all tasks related to network maintenance, service, and security. The benefit of it is less turnaround time for new product/development testing and deployment. Also, the organization is free from the cost and efforts of managing network infrastructure. The drawback of it is what most organizations think is the lack of security of the companies sensitive data but in the real world the public cloud providers are making their infrastructure more secure, robust and isolated thus nowadays the incidents of data theft has become very rare. Eg. Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.

VDI

It stands for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), also known as Server-based computing. In this, the desktop operating system is hosted on a centralized server in the data centers and are accessed from the client systems through desktop image via proxy/intermediate servers. The benefits of VDI is more and easy control of the IT department over network workplaces. Also, VDI becomes much cheaper for the organizations to set up, manage and backup. Data security is also enhanced as there is no business data on the local machines.
