The experiment is on RC circuits and the aim is to determine the time constant. Your group sets up the circuit with a resistor R and a capacitor C connected to a switch and an ideal battery (E). The circuit diagram is shown in the figure. You close the switch at time Os and the voltage across the capacitor Ve and current I in the ammeter are recorded in a spreadsheet using a very fast computer interface. Anne uses this spreadsheet data and constructs a plot of charge q on the capacitor vs current i through the resistor for each setting (see figure). After the lab session she notices that she recorded the capacitance as 1.20 uF but forgot to write down both the resistance of the resistor R and the battery voltage E.
