Imperialist systems in Europe: Many of the European countries were setting up their colonies in Africa and thus were in direct conflict against one another about the ownership of their land and other authorities.
Nationalistic mood of Bosnia & Herzegovina: People of Bosnia & Herzegovina wanted to be part of Serbia rather than Austria-Hungary. This led a sense of nationalism that triggered the assassination in the first place.
Militaristic advances and arms race: The countries began arms race as they entered 20th century and they began to arm up for any possible conflict. Armies became more important and powerful in a country. Their influence became stronger in the public policies and this made the countries impatient and intolerant to one another.
