Answer #1

t2g orbitals in the octahedral complex such as [Fe(CN)6]3- always remain non-binding.

This can be found out from the molecular orbital diagram of the octahedral complexes.

The ligand group orbitals of the 6 ligands approaching the metal have a1g, eg,t1u  symmetries

whereas metal orbitals have a1g, eg,t1u & t2g symmetries

t2g symmetry of the metal orbital do not match with the symmetries of the ligand group orbitals. Hence it remains non-bonding due to no matching symmetry

this is for part b 30 points total) Potassium ferrocyanide is the inorganic compound with formula Fe(CN) 3.0. This salt forms lemon-yellow monoclinic crystals. Potassium ferrocyanide finds many niche applications in industry. It and the related sodium salt are widely used as anticaking agents for both road salt and table salt. Potassium ferrocyanide is used in the production of wine and citric acid. Potassium ferrocyanide is nontoxic, and is not decomposed to cyanide in the body. The toxicity in rats...

PLEASE don't forget to write detail 2 or 3 sentences and pictures explanations. thanks! 5. (30 points) We use rockets to launch sattelites into orbit, and lightening strikes can destroy both. In 1987, exactly this happened with an Atlas/Centaur rocket (it was an unmanned rocket; no one was injured). In this problem, we'll look at how an existing electric field caused an even stronger electric field to develop near the rocket's nose, causing lightening. If you wish to read more...
