Answer #1

Ordered dose of phenytoin suspension orally - 250 mg ,3 times a day .

Available dose of phenytoin is 125mg in 5ml oral suspension.

So, 125mg of phenytoin is present in 5ml of oral suspension

1mg of phenytoin will be present in 5 / 125 ml of oral suspension

250 mg of phenytoin will be present in 5/ 125 × 250 ml of oral suspension

= 5/125 × 250 ml

= 10 ml

The nurse will administer 10 ml of the available oral suspension of phenytoin three times a day to give prescribed 250 mg of phenytoin .
