Non compliance to drug therapy related to deficient knowledge as evidenced by verbalization of doubts and problems

Short term goals

  • Patient demonstrates ability to reassure self
  • Patient identifies strategies to reduce anxiety
  • Patient demonstrates knowledgeable regarding treatment

Interventions and rationale

  • Educate the patient on the treatment regimen that the patient will undergo - it increases awareness of the importance of completing the prescribed treatment
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship- it helps to gain trust and boost confidence
  • Include the patient in planning -it will motivate the patient
  • Supervise the patient during the administration of medications - it will ensure the strict compliance of the treatment plan
  • Educate the patient regarding the medication and its possible side effects- reduces anxiety

Evaluation

Patient demonstrates decrease in anxiety level and improved compliance to treatment.
