Could Donal Trump be considered a disciple of Milton Friedman? Do his economic policies support Milton's idea of "free to choose?"
Mr. Trump cannot be considered as
mentioned, because he has policies that want people to buy those
goods that are produced in the USA. It is against the spirit of
free to choose, proposed by Milton Friedman. For example, Mr. Trump
had arm-twisting policies towards its own MNCs who want to
establish plants in the country of Mexico, Brazil or any other
nations who could provide cheap resources. On a similar note, Mr.
Trump has policies of confrontation with EU nations, NAFTA members
and other nations in the world that makes people as well as firm to
not to opt for the free choice available at different global
avenues. Rather, policies are focused to make people buy goods that
are produced by the US producers even at a higher price. So, he
should not be considered as a disciple of Milton
Friedman.

I just can't understand what that has to do with the concept of no free lunch. Please provide a detailed response with examples. Thank you :)

Too Late to Compensate Free Trade’s Losers CAMBRIDGE – It appears that a new consensus has taken hold these days among the world’s business and policy elites about how to address the antiglobalization backlash that populists such as Donald Trump have so ably exploited. Gone are the confident assertions that globalization benefits everyone: we must, the elites now concede, accept that globalization produces both winners and losers. But the correct response is not to halt or reverse globalization; it is...
