Ans) Hearing Screenings in Schools:
Used to identify individuals who may need a comprehensive hearing evaluation and/or medical management of hearing loss.

- Schools are usually required by law to screen all school-age children at select grades, to identify hearing loss.

-kindergarten through 3rd grade
-7th grade
-11th grade

- Every state has its own requirements.

- Children with known hearing loss must have an annual hearing assessment to determine the stability of the loss and reconsider the appropriateness of hearing devices

School-aged children are screen at 6 grade levels
-kindergarten
-1st
-3rd
-5th
-9th
-11th

- Students new to a school (and not tested within the past 12 months)

- Students referred by a teacher or other school personnel

- Students who were referred within the past year with no documented follow-up, regardless of grade .

- Students absent during the previous hearing screening

- Students at risk for noise exposure

- Students who request a hearing screening

- Students whose parent/caregiver requests a hearing screenings.
