Answer: There are many factors which affects he normal sensory functions such as age is one of the common factor. As people grew old, they slowly loss the sensory function like hearing, taste, vision problem etc.and taste thresholds for sweet, salt and bitter are 2.5 times higher than in the young. They are unable to eat spicy food as they cannot tolerate the taste.

Obesity is also one of the factors such as for obese adult or children, sweet foods taste less intensely sweet, bitter foods are milder and salt is not as readily perceived. The diseased state of a person also affects the sensory function such as hearing impairment, loss of vision etc. In the case of extreme diabetes, people suffer from blurred vision.
