Answer #1

Part 1) For the year 2015, the unemployment rate is 5.3%

Part 2) Unemployment Rate = {(Total Unemployed) ÷ (Labor Force)} × 100

For unemployment rate of 5.3% total unemployed are

5.3 = {(Total Unemployed) ÷ 157,130,000} × 100

Total unemployed when unemployment rate is 5.3% = 8,327,890

For unemployment rate of 4% total unemployed are

4 = {(Total Unemployed) ÷ 157,130,000} × 100

Total unemployed when unemployment rate is 4% = 6,285,200

For the unemployment rate to decline from 5.3% to 4% total unemployed should decline by 8,327,890 – 6,285,200 = 2,042,690, or in other words 2,042,690 jobs are needed to bring the unemployment rate down to the 4 percent low-end of the full-employment threshold in 2015.
