Ans Part A : During starvation , glucose is in short supply , and the body responds by producing ketone bodies as a source of energy.

When the body undergoes starvation and there is a lack of glucose in the blood , large amounts of ketone bodies are produced by the liver.

These ketone bodies are produced by the fatty acids which are then utilised by the gluconeogenesis process to produce energy.

Ans Part A : Stepwise oxidation of fatty acids is known as \beta oxidation because the carbon \beta to the thioester group (two carbons away from the thioester group) is oxidised in the process.

In beta oxidation of fatty acids , two carbons get less in each round. The bond between C-2 and C-3 carbon is broken , so basically the carbon whoch is two carbons away from the thioester group gets oxidised.
