PFC's are molecules made up of Carbon atoms to which fluorine atoms are attached.

Because of the strength of C-F bond molecules are highly stable and resistant to any kind of degradation.

These compounds may undergoes biomagnification and is detected in both liquid and solid phase in most samples. These are unique as they repel oil, grease and water. Thus, they have been used to make surfactants.

Because of such properties PFC's influence their transport in subsurface among solids, liquids and gases phase.
