Differentiated practice competencies between an associate and baccalaureate education in nursiy are as follows:-
- Associate education program last for only two years where as baccalaureate education last for four years.
- Associate degree program focuses mostly on clinical skills where as baccalaureate education focuses on leadership,nursing research , management as well as clinical skills training .
- Associate degree nurse is a technical nurse whereas beccalaureate degree nurse is a professional nurse.
Scope of practice changes between an associate and baccalaureate nurse are as follows:-
-Baccalaureate nurse have excellent problem solving skills and have independent decision making capacities whereas these capacities are not seen in associate degree nurse.
-Baccalaureate nurse incorporate physical,social,spiritual , intellectual and emotional components to address the overall health of the individual where as these components are lacking in associate degree nurses.
- Baccalaureate nurse has knowledge based on theory and research which allows opportunities to teach and assume a leadership role in health care environment where as associate nurse has only technical knowledge .
- Baccalaureate nurse not only provide more complex aspect of daily care and patient education but also design and Co-ordinate a comprehensive plan of nursing care for entire length of a patient's stay from pre - admission to post discharge which is not possible for associate degree nurse.
