The final pressure will be less than 8 atm. In fact the final pressure will be less than 5 atm. When you open the valve, the gas flows from high pressure to low pressure. So, the pressure of the valve with initial pressure 5 atm goes on decreasing and that of the valve with initial pressure 3 atm goes on increasing until both become equal. So, the final pressure is more than 3 atm but less than 5 atm.
When you remove the valve, there is diffusion of gas. So, the process is spontaneous. And hence the Gibbs free energy change is negative.

Question 1 1 pts A 1.50L glass flask contains Ar gas at a pressure of 745 torr. Nitrogen (N2) gas is added to this container and the pressure was measured to be 875 torr. What is now the partial pressure of N2 gas in this container? Use this information to answer Q2-5. Flask A is a 1.50 L glass flask containing Ar gas at a pressure of 652 torr. Flask B is a 2.50 L glass flask containing He gas...
