Since electron is moving from higher energy state to lower energy state, the photon is released

Energy of this transmission = EC - EB

= 800 zJ - 400 zJ

= 400 zJ

= 400*10^-21 J

= 4.00*10^-19 J

use:

E = h*c/lambda

4*10^-19J =(6.626*10^-34 J.s)*(3.0*10^8 m/s)/lambda

lambda = 4.97*10^-7 m

lambda = 497 nm
