Maximum rotation = 300^o

a) Required angle for 1 step = 6^o

Let the length of knob be 'L' mm , then width of code output is equal to circumference of encoder.

From diagram, radius of encoder = Length of knob = L mm

=> Width = (6 / 360) x 2$\pi$L

= $\pi$L / 30 mm

b) Angle for 1 step = 6^o

Maximum angle = 300^o

Number of steps between minimum and maximum volume = 300 / 6 = 50 steps
