velocity of ball along y axis changes because a constant acceleration (acceleration due to gravity) acts on the object, which changes its velocity at every instant

but for x axis, velocity along x axis remains constant throughout its flight

since there is air resistance presence, noe its velocity aling x axis changes too, in other words its horizontal and vertical velocity decreases simultaneously.
