Group : A 'Group' in the workplace is usually made up of two or more people organized as and individual / separate unit or any department, who actually works independently of each other. For example a business may have human resource services group where one person may focus on new hiring and training or new employees, one person may focus on task related to existing employees of company, and one may focus on retiring or employees who are leaving the organization. A group is permanent fixture of any company.

Team : A 'Team' consists of multiple people from different groups within the company who works on same goal/objective. For example A company wants to launch a new product and for this purpose it calls the people from different departments like sales. engineering, finance to think through the potential of new product and to avoid unnecessary costs. In a team every individual recognize the expertise and talent, which is needed to achieve the goal. The team is temporary in nature as it is made to achieve any specific task /goal
