Indications
- Used as quick release agent for acute bronchospasm and prevention
of exercise induced bronchospasm.
Side Effects (CPTRN)

- Tremor
- Restlessness
- Nervousness
Drug Interactions (BADMT)
- Beta blockers
- Adrenergic agents
- Digoxin
- MAO inhibitors
- Trycyclic antidepressants

Route
PO: Inhaln
Dose
2 inhalations q4-6hrs
2 inhalations 15 min before exercise
Patient teaching:
- instruct pt in proper use of metered- dose inhaler
- rinse mouth with water after each inhalation to prevent dry
mouth
- 4 sprays before use disregard after 200 sprays
- instruct pt to notify physician if no response to usual dose or
if canister used in less than 2 weeks.
Nursing Implications:
- Assess BP, lung sounds, pulse b4 domain and during peak
- observe for wheezing
-shake inhaler well and allow at least 1 min between
inhalation
-note amount, color, and character of sputum produced.
