The social security act 1935 is the major milestone for the establishment of the nursing homes in US. Under this act there was a federal state public assistance programmes specially for the assistance of the elderly care.

Thus the Old age assistant programme by the US has triggered the growth of the nursing home industry in the US.

There was the provision of OAA old age assistance fund in this policy.

This stimulated the growth of the voluntary nursing homes with all the set ups to assist the growth of the elderly patients.

In 1951 there was the amendment of the social security act which enables the direct payment to the healthcare providers in case of elderly care along with the insurance of the elderly patients. Thus the federal involvement has triggered the growth of the nursing home industry in US.
