1. Run a "back of the envelope" calculation to assess economic costs associated with ambient levels of PM 2.5 in any city of your choice (not Portland). You will have to make some assumptions and approximations. Make sure you cite sources for any data you use and make a reasonable justification for your assumptions.

The economic costs of pollution are often reflected in the benefits foregone due to higher pollution which are decreased life expectancy,increase of diseases caused by air pollution,increasing deaths caused by pollution who would have contributed to the growth of economy if they would have been in workforce for longer periods. Also the costs of deforestration,soil erosion, species endangerment are also having a bigger share of the costs. The costs of cleaning the ecology should also to be taken into account. I'm specifying with regard to Delhi, the capital city of India.It is estimated that it costs India USD  80 Billion  

p.a for the indian economy as per the world bank estimates.
