How do I learn definition of terms faster? like Epidemiology
There are several methods are there to learn medical terminology, but the most important way to fast learning of medical definitions and terms is understanding root words. The other most widely using methods are dictionary method, visual method, practice of words and mobile applications.
Understanding root words:
In medical terminology the root words are very important to understand for this the prefixes and Suffixes plays an important part to change the meaning of the word.
The definitions are as follows:
Prefix: A prefix is located at the start of a term to adapt or alteration its sense. Pre means "before." Prefixes may also designate a site, digit, or period.
Root: dominant portion of a word.
Suffix: The finale portion of a word that adjusts the connotation of the word.
Ex: Epidemiology is a Greek word.
epi, a prefix meaning “on, upon, or befall”; demos, the root meaning is the people.
Logus a suffix means “the study of”
Other methods are
Medical dictionary: It is an important way to study and learn in the beginning to internalize root words.
Visual learning: It can helps to fast learning with better understanding.
Practice: It can helps in memorizing these words.
