What were the key technological innovations that led to the widespread use of containers in global trade? How might the myriad of products available to shoppers be different today if containers were not used to the extent they are?

Containerization is among the best modern developments of wide trnsport, logistics, supply chain, shipping and international trade. The benefits of containerization, use of sea freight containers goes beyond making deliveries of goods in good and marketable conditions. However, the whole container logistics is centered to ‘container terminals’, the places where containers are handled, managed, stored, and where containers starts their ruote and end.

              Due to Intermodalism system, containers can be easily transported to any accessible part of this globe. Container may look very low tech but it proves that even a low tech innovations can have large impact globally. It reduces the cost, time and increases the efficiency of trade. Due to its economical advantages, it is universally used. International trades are more responsible for Globalisation and International trades are highly boosted by containerization. So Containerization plays an important role in Globalisation.

Advantages:

  1. Standardization of container-universally acceptance

  2. Flexibility of container-for different types of goods

  3. Low transportation cost

  4. Fast transportation, less time at terminal

  5. And less costly Warehousing

  6. Contents are unknown to carriers, it may be disadvantage factor for social issues

  7. Less chances for damage and loss of cargo.
