Effective nursing practice is dependent on an effective therapeutic relationship between nurse and the patient . The ability to develop therapeutic relationship with the patient t is one of the most important skills of the nurse . Therapeutic relationship focuses on the needs , experience , and ideas of the patient not of the nurse . To establish therapeutic relationship the nurse just these phases :-

- orientation = when the nurse and patient meets for the first time and begins to identify patients problems or needs.

- working = in this phase problem identification and formulation of objectives , planning and implementation of the interventions is done by involving the patient in the plan of care .

- termination = is the final stage ,in which evaluation of the intervention is done and the nurse patient therapeutic relationship is ended .
