(i) Fragmentation pattern for HCl:

Cl exists in two isotopes with the ratio ³⁵Cl:³⁷Cl = 3:1

Hence, HCl shows two fragments of masses 1+35 = 36, 1+37 = 38, with the ratio ^{1_{​​​​​}}H³⁵Cl:¹H³⁷Cl = 3:1

(ii) Fragmentation pattern for Br₂:

Br exists in two isotopes with the ratio ⁷⁹Br:⁸⁹Br = 1:1

Hence, Br₂ shows three fragments of masses 79+79 = 158, 79+81 = 160, and 81+81 = 162, with the ratio ⁷⁹​​​​​Br⁷⁹Br:⁷⁹Br⁸¹Br:⁸¹Br⁸¹Br= 1:2:1
