Answer #1

When silver nitrate & potassium chloride are mixed the products are silver chloride and potassium nitrate.

The molecular equation for above reaction is AgNO 3 (aq) + KCl (aq) \rightarrow AgCl (s) + KNO 3 (aq)

KCl, AgNO 3 & KNO 3 are ionic compounds. They are present in the form of ions when dissolved in water.

Hence, we can write a complete ionic equation as shown below.

Ag + (aq) + NO 3- (aq) + K + (aq) + Cl - (aq) \rightarrow AgCl (s) + K + (aq) + NO 3- (aq)

In above equation , NO 3- & K + are called spectator ions. By cancelling these ions we get a net ionic equation as Ag + (aq) +  Cl - (aq) \rightarrow AgCl (s).

ANSWER : Ag + (aq) +  Cl - (aq) \rightarrow AgCl (s).
