Answer #1

chromation is condensed form of chromosome that is found only in eukaryotes and consists of DNA proteins and RNA. Some of the facts about the modification of chromatin are as follows

Dna is not transcribed when chromatin is packaged tightly in a condensed form is true.some forms of chromatin modification can be passed on to future generations of cells is true. Acetylation of histone tails in chromatin allows access to DNA for transcription. Acetylation of histone tails is a reversible process. Methylation of histone tails in chromatin can promote condensation of the chromatin.

Deacetylation donot cause the chromatin to loose but it condenses the chronation.

Hence the statements 1,2,3,4,5 are true.

While much remains to be learned about the role of nucleosomes and chromatin structure and function, recent research indicates that in vivo chemical modification of histones is associated with changes in gene activity. One study determined that acetylation of H3 and H4 is associated with 21.1 percent and 13.8 percent increases in yeast gene activity, respectively, and that histones associated with yeast heterochromatin are hypomethylated relative to the genome average [Bernstein et al. (2000)]. Speculate on the significance of these...

Part 1. Eukaryotes use at least two distinct mechanisms to control gene expression by altering the structure of chromatin around a particular gene. One of these mechanisms is the covalent modification of histones to switch DNA between an open and closed confirmation. A second mechanism is the covalent modification of DNA (typically on cytosines) by methylation. A. In eukaryotic cells, transcriptional activators often work by recruiting the transcriptional macinery to gene promoters DNA methylation is an example of an epigenetic mark that can be inherited Acetylation of histones can result in a more open chromatin structure to allow transcription to occur Different genes can be turned off or on between different organs or stages of development Transcription factor DNA sequences are bound by...

Abstract #1 Histone H3 phosphorylation near the nucleosome dyad alters chromatin structure. Nucleosomes contain ∼146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone protein octamer that controls DNA accessibility to transcription and repair complexes. Posttranslational modification (PTM) of histone proteins regulates nucleosome function. To date, only modest changes in nucleosome structure have been directly attributed to histone PTMs. Histone residue H3(T118) is located near the nucleosome dyad and can be phosphorylated. This PTM destabilizes nucleosomes and is implicated in the regulation...
