consider this question: Do you support organic agriculture, or the suite of agricultural practices that is marketed as sustainable (e.g. grass-fed livestock, cage-free eggs and chicken)? Why or why not? How do you reconcile your choice, given that these products appear to be marketed primarily to privileged, wealthy customers who can afford it? If you are not in support of it, how do you reconcile your choice, given that agricultural production is the number one cause of species loss worldwide?
The organic agriculture contributes to the development of the
society and in achieving sustainable goals. So, it makes sense to
support organic agriculture. However, the availability makes it
only available for the wealthy and privileged class. Though organic
farming helps conserving water and amending soil, it is not
abundantly produced well enough.
The supply of the organic products must be therefore, controlled
and regulated. It must be understood that school gardens and home
gardens also can produce their own organic products.
Also, it would not be practical to blame organic farming to be the sole cause of species loss.
