Answer #1

36. Given data

Weight of the puppy = 20 lbs= 9.09 kg

Concentration of the drug = 5mg / mL

Dose to be given = 2 mg / kg = 9 x 2 = 18 mg

The formula is, Desired dose / Dose in hand x Volume = Dose to be given

18 / 5 x 1 = 3.6 mL

Thus the answer is, 3.6 mL Reglan to be added to the IV fluids.

37. Given data

Weight of the dog = 30 lbs = 13.63 kg

Concentration of the solution = 1 mg / mL

Standard dosage of Cerenia for dogs = 1 mg / kg

The formula is, Desired dose / Dose in hand x Volume = Dose to be given

13.63 / 1 x 1 = 13.63 m L

Thus the answer is, 13.36 m L

38. Given data

Weight of the horse = 1200 lbs = 545.45 kg

Ordered dose of medication = 4 mg / kg once daily for 2 weeks

= 545.45 x 4 = 2181 mg (2.18 g)once daily for two week

Available medication is a syringe containing 2.28 gm

So for 14 days 14 syringes with 2.28 g of gastro gard oral paste to be provided.

Thus the answer is 14 syringes.

39. Given data

Weight of the cat = 12 lbs = 5.45 kg

Medication ordered = 0.35 mg / kg / dose

= 5.45 x 0.35 = 1.90 mg / dose

Concentration of medication = 4 mg / tablet

If the dose is give twice daily the medication to be used per day is 1.90 x 2 = 3.8 mg / day

Thus 7 tablets to be dispensed for one week as one tablet is 4 mg and required dose is 3.8 mg / day ( two divided doses)

The answer is 7 tablets.

40. Given data

Weight of the cat = 15 lbs = 6.81 kg

Medication ordered = .55 mg / kg / day

= 6.81 x 0. 55 mg

= 3.75 mg / da

Concentration of the medication = 2.5 mg / tablet

The formula is, Desired dose / Dose in hand x Volume = Dose to be given

Thus, 3.75 mg / 2.5 mg x 1 tab = 1.51 tablet

Thus the answer is, 1 and a half tablet (1.5) to be given per day.
