Consider a winter mountain survival scenario. Why is it a bad idea to eat snow, even if you have no way of melting it for drinking? Hint: See Problem 62.
(reference problem 62)
Winter survival. If you are stranded in a cold and snowy environment, it is never a good idea to eat snow for hydration. Estimate the heat energy needed to convert 0.50 kg of snow to water and then heat the water to body temperature. Assume the snow is at 0°C in the survival snow cave you built as a shelter. State your answer in SI units (J) and in food calories (Cal).
