Hearing is a special sense, perception of sound waves, which is nothing but a form of mechanical energy. The organ of hearing and equilibrium in our body is, “the ear.”
The two mechanisms by which location of the sound identified by the brain are listed below:
1). By computing the time difference in the arrival of sound waves at each ear by the hindbrain.
2). By computing the difference in amplitude (loudness) in each ear by the neurons in the brain stem.
