Hearing is a special sense, perception of sound waves, which is nothing but a form of mechanical energy. The sound-wave energy is produced by the changes in the “air-pressure waves,” which is converted into neural activity by the auditory receptors in the ear.
The three physical attributes of sound waves are,

The four properties of musical sounds are,
• Loudness
• Pitch
• Prosody
• Quality
The speed of delivery, the rate of analysis of sound segments (per second) distinguishes speech and musical sounds from the other auditory inputs. A buzz is heard when the Non-language sounds occur at a rate of more than 5 segments per second. However, humans can understand the speech delivered at approximately 30 segments pet second.
