In the inner ear, the organ of corti (of cochlea) contains several rows of elongated hair cells, which are connected to the fibres of cochlear nerve (a portion of 8th cranial nerve).
The fibres are carried to the auditory centre of brain, present in the temporal lobe. Finally, the sound is perceived in the temporal lobe.
