How did Hering explain space perception?

Step-by-Step Solution

Solution 1

Ewald Hering was a well-known physiologist that relies on the concept of space perception. According to Helmholtz, he suggested that the space perception develops slowly from the experience of psychological and physiological events that are interrelated to each other.

According to Hering, he believed that each point on the retina specifically provides three different types of information about the stimulatory actions such as left-right position, height and depth that constitutively defines the concept of space perception. He also believed that space perception exists as a priori-like situation.

Kant believed that the space perception was considered as an innate category of the mind whereas Hering identified that the space perception was considered as an innate characteristic feature of the eye.
