In this project, you learn to use the Macintosh HD desktop icon in Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard to access files and folders.

To access files and folders in Mac OS X:

1. Double-click the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.

2. What folders do you see in the Macintosh HD window?

3. Double-click the Users folder.

4. What folders appear in the Users window?

5. Double-click your account’s home folder, which is in the shape of a small house.

6. Your home folder contains a combination of folders and files. Typically, documents that you create using this account are placed in the Documents folder. There are also folders in which to store Downloads, Library files, Movies, Music, Pictures, and so on, as shown in Figure 4-22.

7. Close the window for your home folder.
