Microprocessors

A pulse- width modulation motor drive system applies voltage to a motor while adjusting the duty cycle, or time interval, over which full voltage is applied.

The current that flows when voltage is applied will be determined by the motor speed and internal resistance. The average power consumed by the motor will be equal to the time average of the voltage– current product. The pulse- width modulated waveform is produced in response to a digital data signal from a computer module. Draw the microprocessor flowchart for a program that can produce the required voltage waveform. Your program should accept a binary or decimal number between 0 and 255 and then produce an output that is high (logic 1) for an amount of time proportional to the input value.
