Skin depth for some materials at different frequencies.
Write a program in MATLAB to compute the skin depth (δ) for four materials, namely, copper, iron (σFe = 10 MS/m and μFe = 1000μ0), seawater with σ = 4 S/m and εr = 81, and rural ground with σ = 10−2 S/m and εr = 14, at frequencies of 60 Hz, 1 kHz, 100 kHz, 1 MHz, 100 MHz, and 1 GHz, respectively. The results should be tabulated in a previously created text file skindepth.txt. (ME7 20.m on IR) H
HINT:
For copper, use the formula for δCu in Eqs.(7.20). For iron, compute δ = δFe from the first expression in Eqs.(7.20). Since seawater and rural ground do not behave like good conductors at some of the higher frequencies in the list [i.e., when σ/(ωε) ≤ 100], δ in such cases should be computed using Eqs.(7.19) and (7.13), rather than the expression for δ in Eqs.(7.20).
