In what ways does the current version of the cognitive unconscious differ from the Freudian view of the unconscious?
Conscious mental procedures were analyzed by the researchers and it sparked a revived interest of the researchers into the subject of unconscious mind. Researchers now suggest that all the thoughts that are converted into the actions are first present in the unconscious mind and are processed faster than the ones present in the conscious mind.
Freud, however, did not talk about the emotions and the feelings being suppressed by certain factors and brought out only through psychoanalysis. The modern idea of unconscious is more rational and is incorporated in the cognition’s first stage of response to a certain stimulus.
To distinguish the first thought processing from the inactive state, such as, sleep and come, some scientist have renamed the unconscious state as the nonconscious state. They now claim that the unconscious state is smarter than the first thought of cognitive ability. For example, in an experiment, the researchers found that the purchases done by the subjects were more creative when the mind acted unconsciously.
However, in the conscious situation, it was less creative. This research has revealed that the individuals can get influenced by unseen or the unheard stimuli. Most of the activities involve the conscious as well as the unconscious mind to acquire the knowledge related to the activity. However, much of the learning is done by the unconscious mind, which involves learning and mental acquisition.
