Eating disorder is a serious issue that is mostly linked with the psychological changes. This is caused due to stress, extreme concern about the body shape and size.

The causative factors of eating disorder are

• Eating disorder is linked with a variety of genes that are mainly responsible for the expression of hormones and neurotransmitters that are involved in weight regulation. Genes influence the brain biology and when one cannot tolerant this extreme stress they depend on food.

• Epigenetics means the interaction between genes and environment also play a critical role in the eating disorder

• Sociocultural and psychological feelings of thinness also contribute to eating disorders

The effects of eating disorder are

1. Fat in the body gets insulated and the body temperature reduces. This leads to intolerant of cold, metabolic rate decreases, rough, dry and cold skin that show bruises and loss of hair all these are caused by anorexia nervosa.

2. Hypertension due to overweight and Increased cholesterol levels that leads to atherosclerosis that is caused by binge eating

3. Over exposure of stomach acids to teeth makes them sensitive and decay, Blood potassium levels decreases by vomiting or by diuretics, Stomach ulcers and Swelling of salivary glands all these are caused by Bulimia nervosa.
