Solutions For An Introduction to Brain and Behavior Chapter 7 Problem 2R3

Step-by-Step Solution

Solution 1

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It images the nerve fiber pathways by detecting the directional movements of water in the brain. The abnormalities in the neural pathways can be delineated by using DTI.

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is also a MRI method, which determines the concentration of brain metabolites by using the hydrogen proton signal. The metabolites such as NAA (N-acetyl aspartate) are measured by MRS.

Thus, the blanks can be filled with neural connections; concentration metabolites in the brain.
