Social play of children. The American Journal on Mental Retardation (Jan. 1992) published a study of the social inter actions of two groups of children. Independent random samples of 15 children with and 15 children without devel opmental delays (i.e., mild mental retardation) comprised the subjects of the experiment. After observing the children during “free play,” researchers recorded the number of children who exhibited disruptive behavior (e.g., ignoring or rejecting other children, taking toys from another child) for each group. The data are summarized in the two-way table shown at the bottom of the page. Analyze the data and interpret the results.
