Head trauma, more significantly known as, “Traumatic brain Injury (TBI)”, is an injury in temporal lobe of the brain. The clinical consequences of head trauma can be:

• Stroke,

• Surgery

• Hypoxia.

It is important to note that the degree of impairment or TBI can be either high or low. Low level injury is also known as “closed head injury”, in which cranium of the brain is not injured. High level injury is also known as “penetrating head injury”. In this, the cranium is injured. Some object like a bullet may enter the brain.

There are various factors related to TBI. Each factors depends results in a different degree of impairment in the person affected. Some of the factors are:

• Motor vehicle accidents: About 2 million people experiencing TBI, have the same because of a road accident.

• Assaults: Such cases are less reported, but come under common causes of high degree of impairment

• Sports injuries

• Blasts: Iraq war is a good example. Blast in any part of the world, would affect the brain of the people; with maximum brain damage to the people who are closest to the blast. Reports suggest that 15% of soldiers, who were a part of Iraq war, experienced TBI.

All the above factors can cause low level or high level of injury.
