As electric force between two charged particle is a two step process.

At first the charge produces electric field in the space around it and this electric field exerts a force on any charged placed in the electric field. Ad electric field as well as electric force is a vector quantity. So the effect due to individual charge can be calculated and then the resultant can be found by vectorial addition. As shown in calculation below.
