Are birth control pills good or bad? Do a little research on different types of birth control. What are the risks? What are the benefits? Do the risks outweigh the benefits? What about long term use of birth control? Is there risks or harm in using birth control that allows a woman to only menstruate a few times a year? Birth control pills can be beneficial for a women in certain conditions to regulate her menstrual cycle otherwise the only use of it is contraception and thus preventing pregnancy. It if used as a OTC drug or without a doctor's supervision is always danger and harm the health than its good effects.

There are multiple methods of birth control dome are

  • The most common method called as natural method where abstinence or withdrawal is followed
  • The use of female condom,diaphragm ,cervical cap and injection in female and condom in male
  • The permanent method is vasectomy in female and tubectomy in male

The risk of birth control methods are

  • Infection
  • Irregular or heavy bleeding
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Clot
  • Tumor
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack

The benefits are

  • To prevent unplanned pregnancy
  • Regulates menstruation
  • Decreases menstrual pain

The risk can outweigh the benefits if used in the right way and right purpose otherwise it is always dangerous.

The main longterm risk is a high chance of increase in the rate of heart attack,obesity, mood swings

Menstruation is a normal phenomenon and the unfertilized ovum has to be released once in every 28 days or in a month lack or preventing this can cause hormonal problems and pose a women at a threat for adverse events when used only to menstruate.
