He tries to administer his own oral medication. His wife, who usually helps him, is often not home for his afternoon dose because your visit is her respite time. 2. Your client is 84 and has rheumatoid arthritis. Each week the RN distributes her medication for each day in a docette. Today your client's joints seem very inflamed and she asks you to open her docette for her. 3. According to the care plan for a new client, he is on an anti-inflammatory medication that has been prescribed to be taken bid. When you try to remind him to take his medication, he refuses, claiming he is fine. While reading the label on your client's medication, you notice that the strength of the medication is different from the care plan. Your client claims that his meds were changed over the weekend after visiting the medical clinic.

1. The respite care providers have the function to provide temporary relief to the permanent care providers of the patients. In this case study, the wife of the client has the role of assisting the patient to take his medicine. being a respite care provider, I will provide companionship to the patient. I will try to manage his hygiene and prepare a healthy meal for him.

2. Since the patient is not able to open her docette, so I will help the patient with her medicine. Being a responsible care provider, I will first confirm the medicine from the RN, and then administer it to the patient. Ethical nursing practices always involve a nurse to engage in safe practices with proper consideration from physicians, or RNs.

3. The third case study involves a care provider to educate the patient. Being an active care provider I will educate and aware of the patient about the benefits of taking his anti-inflammatory medicines on time. I will inform him that these medicines will help him with the pain, swelling, and redness in the affected area.

4. it has been said that a single change in the dose of medicine can lead to deterioration of the patient's condition. An increase or decrease in the dosage can reduce the safety, and quality of care of the patient if it does not match the body requirements of the patients. I will ask for the prescription from the patient, and then confirm it to the physician for his safety and wellbeing.
