60% of people who have cancer are 65years older..cancer can develop at any age..but it is more common in old age..this is due to our cells can get damaged over time..This damage can build up as we age can lead to cancer..This cell damage happen with many reasons like cigarette smoking, UC rays from the sun or it can be fixed on our body already ..comparing with young age, older age more prone for cell damage and it builds up..

Living more healthy life can belp prevent cancer..stoping alcohol, smoking ,eating well balanced diet,be active can reduce the risk of cancer..cancer treatment can be more challenging and complication in older age..

Action to resolve the problem:

- health care team must know the patient condition, medication and treatment plan..

- social worker should help for Patient with transportation facilities for getting treatment..

- help older adults with their daily activities..

- provide good nutrition during treatment course.because during cancer treatment period they will lose their weight..

- physical assessment helps for treatment plan..

- older adults receive less treatment than younger people as their body function runs slow..

- some time as per their health condition and capacity cancer treatment will be provided .

- focus on emotion and lifestyle concern..services for older adults will be low cost .

- making much facilities for their survival in their home and emotional support, counseling can eliminate their depression and anxiety..

- Medicare can pay for older adults payments for different services... Deductible,co- insurance,co- payment should be included when Medicare does not cover their services..
